The woods used in the manufacture of the more than 100 doors of the Prophet’s Mosque vary, which are considered architectural masterpieces of exquisite consistency and beauty, as these woods were brought from international countries, and passed through unprecedented stages of polishing, decoration and drying.
The doors of King Fahd’s expansion in the Prophet’s Mosque were made with more than 1,600 cubic meters of “teak” wood, and one door consumes more than 1,500 engraved gilded pieces, collected in a circular mold containing the name “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
The width of one door is 3 meters, its height is 6 meters, and its thickness is more than 13 centimeters, while the weight of one door is a ton and a quarter, and the door can be opened and closed with one hand, because of the flexibility in the opening and closing process.
Wood Diversity
Also, some doors were made of “Azizi” wood in the most prestigious international factories, each of which is 3 meters wide and 6 meters high. It is also covered with bronze, inscribed in the middle, “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.” On top of it is a stone plaque on which it is written on it this Ayah from the Qur’an:
“ادخلوها بسلام آمنين”
