If you think back to your school days and remember the moment when your teacher showed you a beam of light through a prism that generates what they call an artificial rainbow, you already know the answer to this question: What is the true color of the sun?
But for sure, the sun’s real color is not orange or yellow as we used to color it in art class.
“The entire sun and all its layers are glowing,” Christopher Bird, assistant professor of physics at West Texas A&M University, in Canyon, Texas, told LiveScience British website. He also added that:” The color of the sun is the spectrum of colors in its light, which arises from a complex interaction between all parts of the sun.”
So, if we’re trying to figure out the color of the sun, we need to analyze the sun’s rays here on Earth and make a quantitative assessment of it. There are different ways to do this, and they are not particularly high-tech; most kids have probably done this before.
Christopher Bird explained to Live Science: “The color content of a beam of light can be easily identified by passing a beam of light through a prism. These simple, cheap, and compact objects spread a beam of light into components of various pure colors. Each pure color has a distinct wave frequency.
This is why scientists tend to use the words “color” and “frequency” interchangeably; Because the color of any light ray can be determined by its frequency, and for visible light, red light has the lowest frequency and violet the highest. The range of colors or frequencies in a beam of light is called the “spectrum”.
But more importantly, these frequencies aren’t exactly present in the same amount, just that the differences aren’t big enough to be meaningful.
Beard said: “The color components of sunlight are very close enough to be present in equal amounts, to an extent it is much more correct to say the sun is white than to say it is yellow, or orange, or any other pure color.”
It should be noted that the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, referred to the color of the sun 1400 years ago, and this is what many called a prophetic miracle.
It was narrated in the Hadith what means: I was with the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, in the path to him, our night inserted even if our wedding was in the early morning then our eyes failed until the sun emerged, he said: “he was the first to wake up us Abu Bakr, and we did not awaken the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, from his in his sleep until he wakes up himself, and then Omar woke up the, he stood up next to the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, and started saying the Takbeer, and raise his voice until I wake up the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and when he lifted his head and saw the sun had emerged He said: They set out, and he followed us until when the sun had turned white, it came down and he prayed with us in the mornings
