The toll of the Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 34,097 martyrs, in addition to 76,980 injured, with the Civil Defense announcing the retrieval of the bodies of 190 martyrs from mass graves at the Nasser Medical Complex.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated in a brief statement on Sunday, April 21, 2024, that the Israeli occupation committed 5 new massacres in Gaza, resulting in 48 martyrs and 79 wounded in the past 24 hours.
It also noted that “there are still victims under the rubble and in the streets, inaccessible to ambulance and civil defense crews.”
Discovery of Mass Graves at Nasser Complex
According to local sources, Civil Defense teams managed to retrieve the bodies of 190 martyrs from mass graves at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Strip.
The Civil Defense in Gaza announced the discovery of mass graves at the Nasser Medical Complex, indicating that the occupation forces collected the martyrs’ bodies and buried them collectively inside the hospital.
It pointed out that the martyrs were from various categories and age groups, and rescue teams still continuing search and retrieval operations for the remaining martyrs in the coming days.
In turn, the director of the Gaza government media office, Ismail al-Thawabta, stated that the occupation prepared a cemetery inside the walls of the Nasser Complex to conceal its crimes, expecting the presence of the bodies of 700 martyrs in mass graves executed by the occupation inside the complex.
He explained that the Israeli occupation executed dozens of displaced persons, wounded, patients, and medical personnel, noting that the fate of dozens who were at the Nasser Complex remains unknown after the occupation withdrew.
In this context, activists on social media platforms shared scenes showing moments of Civil Defense teams retrieving the bodies of several martyrs from mass graves at the Nasser Medical Complex.
The scenes showed the excavation of the mass grave and the retrieval of the martyrs’ bodies for identification, transportation, and burial.
On April 7, the Israeli army announced its withdrawal from Khan Yunis after 4 months of incursion into the southern province of the Strip.
The Israeli military operation significantly affected the city, leaving extensive destruction in roads, homes, and infrastructure.
