Following the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip, Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson, Major Mahmoud Basal, provided a sobering account of the widespread devastation and uncovered horrors they left behind.
Basal reported that the majority of residences in Jabalia camp were completely demolished, leaving families without shelter. Moreover, he added that the infrastructure within Jabalia camp suffered severe damage, with essential facilities such as roads, water supply systems, and electricity networks almost destroyed, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the area.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he mentioned that the heart of commercial activities in Jabalia camp, its central market, lay in ruins, disrupting essential trade and access to goods for the local population.
Furthermore, the main generators at the Kamal Adwan Hospital, a vital medical facility in northern Gaza, were completely obliterated, compromising the ability to provide crucial medical services to the injured and ill, as per Basal.
He also detailed that the fifth floor of the Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza was heavily damaged, posing significant challenges to patient care and treatment amid the ongoing genocide.

Major Mahmoud Basal also reported that dozens of casualties were recovered from the rubble of the Jabalia camp, with a particularly poignant mention of the al-Asaliya family, with 30 of its members, including 22 children and a woman, killed by “Israel”.
