In a recent gathering in the United States titled “Interfaith Dialogues,” attended by leaders and presidents from various Arab and Islamic countries, an alarming statement was made by the leader of the Zionist entity. In his speech, he provocatively declared, “If there are those calling for a return to Palestine, then we, in turn, call for a return to Yathrib,” referring to Medina. This brazen remark oversteps the bounds of decency and justice and reflects the arrogance of an occupier who has yet to face any significant rebuttal. Such a statement, if left unchecked, could be seized upon by the Zionist media machine, potentially leading to the militarization of false claims, much like what has been seen with issues like anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, and the so-called “Promised Land.” These topics, though based on falsehoods, have been manipulated to appear as legitimate grievances, stifling any form of critique or analysis without branding the critics as enemies or anti-Semites.
In response to this audacity, a respected Islamic scholar addressed the leader’s claim, pointing out that their betrayal, treachery, and breaking of covenants with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) led to their expulsion from Medina. This expulsion occurred despite the initial acceptance and tolerance extended to the Jewish tribes who resided in Medina under the nascent Islamic state, established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on principles of coexistence, cooperation, and complete equality.
It is crucial to revisit historical events to understand the gravity of their betrayal. The Jews of Banu Nadir, for instance, attempted to kill the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by plotting to throw a rock at him while he was visiting their homes. The Prophet had gone to seek their assistance in paying blood money for two individuals killed by mistake. However, divine revelation exposed their treachery, allowing the Prophet to escape unharmed.
Another significant betrayal was by the Jews of Banu Qurayza, who violated their pact with the Muslims during the critical Battle of Al-Ahzab and the Trench. They launched a surprise attack on the Muslims within Medina during a time of extreme vulnerability, exacerbating the already dire situation.
If modern-day Israeli Jews wish to contest their historical rights, they should confront their legacy of betrayal and treachery, which were the real reasons for their expulsion from Medina. This pattern of behaviour has been recognized and recorded throughout history.
It is disheartening that such provocative statements have not been met with a firm response to make it clear that these false claims will not be tolerated and that the Muslim community will not remain silent.
On the same track, it is essential to recall that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) expelled the Jews from Medina due to their repeated acts of treachery and betrayal. In a troubling contrast, the current Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman, appears to be encouraging their proximity to the Prophet’s Mosque, raising concerns about altering the historical and religious sanctity of this holy city.
O Muslim Ummah, is there no lesson to be drawn from this history that will awaken us from our slumber and inspire us to defend our heritage, sacred sites, and lands from the predations of malicious ideologies and unfounded claims?
O Muslim Ummah, neither the strength of the Al-Ahzab nor the betrayal of the Jews could defeat or undermine the Muslims in Medina during the Battle of the Confederates and the Trench. On the contrary, with divine support and guidance, the Muslims, though outnumbered and outgunned, upheld the cause of God and were victorious. Let us remember this and stand firm in our faith and resolve.
