Palestinian Resistance fighters continue to defend against the Israeli invasion of al-Shujaiya in the northern Gaza Strip and the southernmost city of Rafah.
In operations conducted by the Palestinian Resistance in al-Shujaiya neighborhood, an Israeli officer, a team commander in the 7th Armored Brigade’s 75th Battalion, was killed.
In the same incident, three other soldiers from the same battalion were seriously injured and evacuated by rescue helicopters to nearby hospitals. The latest announcement made by the Israeli occupation forces’ spokesperson means that 323 Israeli troops have been killed since the invasion of the Gaza Strip, while 676 have been killed in total since October 7, 2023.
Al-Shujaiya operations ensue regardless of Israeli claims of control
The neighborhood, which holds one of the Palestinian Resistance’s most accoladed and successful elite units, has seen intense fighting since June 27 this year. This comes after occupation forces had withdrawn from the neighborhood after claiming victory in early January.
However, the battles have maintained the intensity of previous incursions and have produced some of the most complex ambushes and attacks conducted by the Resistance since the war on Gaza began.
On Wednesday, the Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades announced that its mortar units shelled the Israeli al-Shujaiya battle command force, which other fighters took advantage of to attack the site, killing and injuring several troops.
Israeli rescue helicopters were seen landing at the site to evacuate the casualties.
Al-Quds Brigades fighters also shelled Israeli occupation forces with various types of mortar shells in an area to the east of the neighborhood.
The group also conducted a joint attack with al-Mujahideen Brigades fighters, in which the two Resistance factions shelled occupation forces advancing toward the neighborhood with mortar shells.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) also shelled occupation forces with mortar shells and 107 mm rockets in separate operations.
In the southwestern neighborhood of Tal al-Hawa, where the Israeli occupation has launched a less intense incursion, al-Quds Brigades fighters detonated an improvised explosive device planted into Street 10 into an Israeli vehicle.
Palestinian fighters shell Israeli sites and command posts
Moreover, several Palestinian Resistance factions shelled Israeli command posts and sites in and out of the Gaza Strip.
The PFLP’s Abu Ali Moustapha Brigades shelled Israeli positions in the strategic Netsarim Axis, which splits the northern Gaza Strip from the rest of the besieged territory.
The group said that the continued shelling of the Netsarim Axis with rockets and mortar rounds comes in cooperation with other Palestinian Resistance factions.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades fighters also fired mortar rounds and short-range rockets at occupation forces in the Axis.
Al-Mujahideen Brigades fighters fired two 107 mm rockets at the Israeli Kissufim military site, while al-Quds Brigades launched yet another barrage of rockets at different sites across the Gaza Envelope.
As a result warning sirens went off in Kfar Maimon and Tushia to the east of Gaza City.
Rafah’s fighters defend against Israeli forces
In the southernmost city of Rafah, al-Qassam Brigades fighters fired two tandem rocket-propelled grenades at two Israeli Merkava tanks, in a camp in Tal al-Sultan.
Al-Quds Brigades fighters also fired an RPG at an Israeli military-grade D9 bulldozer in southern Rafah.
The BRigades also detonated an armor-piercing IED into an Israeli Merkava tank in the Baladi Field in Rafah.
