The Palestinian cause holds a special significance in the Arab and Islamic mindset for several reasons. It is a unique issue tied to the sacred places of the Ummah, and it carries a painful historical record since its inception as a major catastrophe in which the land was taken, subjected to one of the most brutal projects aimed at erasing identity, obliterating the features of belonging, and confronting the voice of truth with the continuous killing machine that spares no one.
However, given that the human mind is prone to forgetfulness and often deals with the current moment without recalling the roots of the crisis or the nature of the problem, the opposing voice constantly seeks to simplify the issue, associating it with fragments that stem from fundamental issues that cannot be ignored. They often start from a point far removed from the beginning, which might have been forgotten or overshadowed amidst the complexity and accumulation of events. They even deliberately create a specific point or problem to become the focus of discussion, negotiation, and handling, thus cutting off and burying many significant phases along the way.
Here, I recall a perceptive and insightful remark by Dr. Fahmy Howeidy, who commented on the issue of Zionist settlements years ago by writing: “The issue is not about the settlements… Have we forgotten the core issue?”
The issue that Dr. Howeidy refers to is comprehensive in its entirety, vast as the land of Palestine, complicated by the eliminationist Zionist project, and complex due to the military steps with political roots and biased historical readings. It is profound, requiring a deep solution to address it and remove the scars of the abhorrent occupation. It is extremely sensitive, given the nefarious plans that continue unabated against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, aiming to realize the distorted historical dreams of a faction of zealots.
Given the nature of the issue, it is evident why the proposed solutions, still suggested by some parties, have consistently failed. They have long ignored its original Islamic identity, its profound historical depth, its intense humanity, its enormous and heavy heritage, the rights of its innocent victims—both people and stones—and its critical impact on the future of the entire Muslim Ummah. Ultimately, these solutions have led to the complete selling out of the cause through a miserable surrender to the will of evil and the promotion of the infamous normalization project.
Precisely here lies the value and significance of the Palestinian Islamic resistance, crowned by the efforts of Hamas. Their project continues with insightful and comprehensive vision, a principled commitment to a robust methodological foundation, and a strategic patience that is remarkable.
Therefore, it is accurate to say that classifying the Al-Aqsa flood as a historic crossroads was not an exaggeration. It has returned the compass of the cause to its true location, exposing the misery of patchwork solutions and appeasement, while highlighting the pristine identity that many have painstakingly tried to obscure in favor of foreign narratives. On the other hand, it presents the real solution, which cannot be discussed without addressing this issue.
This land will only be liberated by pure hands, enlightened minds, and supporters with a profound sense of humanity. Enough said!
