In a bizarre scene, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was greeted with enthusiastic applause lasting over three minutes from members of the U.S. Congress who support his genocidal policies. This fervent applause came despite Netanyahu facing charges of genocide before the International Court of Justice and an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. Nonetheless, Congress members continued to applaud Netanyahu’s speech, which was filled with lies.
House Majority Leader Mike Johnson put significant effort into inviting the genocidal criminal to speak in Congress, supporting and encouraging him. Johnson felt proud of his successful accomplishment, not only inviting a war criminal to address Congress and deeming him a distinguished statesman but also ensuring he received resounding applause. This symbolic scene overshadowed the protests of a few Congress members like Rashida Tlaib, who witnessed this disgrace with a heavy heart.
Despite the few criticisms and protests from Congress members who shared Tlaib’s opposition to Netanyahu’s invitation, the outcome remained unchanged. Even the demonstrations outside Congress demanding an end to the genocide in Palestine did not sway U.S. officials from displaying their unwavering support for Israel’s genocidal actions against the people of Gaza through military, economic, and diplomatic backing. The world’s strongest nation implicitly confirmed its continued support to ensure the genocide persists. In this context, Netanyahu’s fourth speech to Congress should be seen as a significant symbolic success for the occupation and its supporters, though it portends a grim future. This symbolism, showcasing the United States as the largest supporter of genocide today, sends a crucial message to the international political system and the future of global politics.
The message is clear: under the control of the Zionist lobby, the United States has even abandoned its facade of being the guardian of the unjust global power struggle system. The U.S., which openly helped Netanyahu trample nearly all principles of international law concerning human rights and warfare, with the entity he represents being charged with genocide by the International Court of Justice and the ICC issuing an arrest warrant, welcomed him into Congress in a display of the Zionist lobby’s brutality in the U.S. This move will be the final nail in the coffin of America’s aspirations to lead the global order with the same strength.
This is not an exaggeration if we consider the long-term implications of this event. In the future, we may analyze how the reckless support of the U.S. Congress for Israel’s genocide led to a world where only force is seen as the solution, threatening anyone with aggression similar to the genocide faced by the people of Gaza. This scenario will drag everyone into chaos, seeking allies and heavy armament. Alternatively, the dominance of Washington will gradually erode, paving the way for a new international political system where the U.S. is replaced by another actor, striving to enforce international law at least partially.
It is evident that China, and to a lesser extent Russia, is trying to fill the gaps left by the U.S. and become new players in establishing the order. The fact that Beijing gathered Palestinian factions last week, regardless of its effectiveness, as an attempt to reconcile them, shows that China’s influence has already reached traditional American spheres of influence.
The fact that Congress embraced Netanyahu at this time, accused as a genocidal criminal not by Eastern institutions but by international bodies long used by the U.S., clearly shows all allies and adversaries how easily the world’s most powerful country can be used as a tool to achieve the occupation’s interests. This will inevitably drive the region’s people to adopt the principle of resistance. Israeli aggression today, with such international support, reveals to everyone that resistance is an existential necessity, not a dream against this religious occupation unrestrained by any law or agreements other than force. It highlights the reality that such genocide can be carried out against any people with full support from the U.S. and other Western countries. Therefore, while Netanyahu and his supporters may think they are close to undermining the world, they are pushing it to a confrontation point that will inevitably come.
