The Israeli Channel 12 reported that Jordan will allow “Israel to counter the Iranian attack through its airspace.”
The channel noted that although “the Hashemite Kingdom publicly declares that it will not allow the use of Jordanian airspace under any circumstances or by any party, the situation appears to be different in closed-door discussions.”
Channel 12 quoted a senior official in the Jordanian capital, Amman, who wished to remain anonymous, confirming on Saturday, “We will allow Israel to counter the Iranian attack in our airspace.”
The Jordanian official added, “This decision stems from a security interest, and this is the policy, just as Jordan helped Israel in April to thwart the Iranian attack. Ultimately, Jordan is an ally of the United States.”
On Friday, “Sunna Files Website” learned from informed sources in Jordan that the authorities in Amman had allowed Israeli forces to use Jordanian airspace to counter any attacks that Iran might launch before reaching their targets. However, the Jordanian Armed Forces denied giving such approval to anyone in this regard.
Jordan had previously announced that it would not allow any missiles or drones to pass through its airspace, considering such actions a violation of Jordanian sovereignty, and affirming that it would not accept being a battleground for any regional conflicts.
However, according to information obtained by “Arabi21,” Jordan agreed to let Israeli aircraft intercept any Iranian drones or missiles, which would be shot down hundreds of kilometers before reaching Israeli targets.
In contrast, a Jordanian military source denied that Israeli aircraft had been allowed to use the Kingdom’s airspace, telling “Arabi21” that “Jordan will not allow the Israeli occupation to use its land or airspace to counter any attacks coming from Iran.”
The source emphasized that all claims suggesting Amman has allowed “Tel Aviv” to use Jordanian airspace to intercept any projectiles coming from Iran or its allies are false.
In the same context, the “Hala FM” website, affiliated with the Jordanian Armed Forces, denied a report claiming that the Kingdom had allowed the occupation to use its airspace.
The site, citing a responsible source in the armed forces, stated that Jordan “will not allow military responses by any of the conflicting parties.”
The source continued, “The armed forces have clarified more than once that they will not allow the land and airspace of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to become a stage for any party.”
Amman had officially announced that it intercepted Iranian missiles and drones that crossed its airspace as part of Tehran’s response to the Israeli bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of several senior Revolutionary Guard officers and military advisors.
At the time, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, stated: “We responded to what we believe was a threat to the security of our citizens, and just as we intercepted Iranian drones, we will intercept any Israeli drones. The Israeli Prime Minister must be prevented from imposing a war agenda on the region,” adding that “We cannot accept Israel’s violation of international law without accountability, and the international community must protect its credibility in this regard.”
The spokesperson for the Jordanian Armed Forces, at the time, indicated that the Royal Jordanian Air Force had increased its air patrols to prevent any airspace violations and to defend Jordanian skies.
Jordan had announced that it intercepted aerial objects that breached its airspace simultaneously with the Iranian attack on “Israel” using drones and missiles. Western and Hebrew media outlets reported that Jordan had intercepted the Iranian attack targeting the Israeli entity and had opened its airspace for U.S. aircraft to assist in countering the Iranian attack.
