Israeli media and officials are relentless in fabricating lies and distorting facts. They seize every opportunity to do so, whether through the TV channels that host them or on social media platforms, which they often use as a pulpit to spread their poisonous lies and disgraceful fabrications.
Social media users have once again circulated a statement made by the extremist Israeli journalist and researcher Edi Cohen. In his post, Cohen reiterated a previous claim in which he revealed that Israel is considering demanding $200 billion from Arab regimes as compensation to Tel Aviv for Jewish refugees who left some Arab countries.
Cohen, who identifies himself as a former advisor to the Israeli government, stated during an interview on “Russia Today” that a report prepared by a secret committee established three years ago to calculate the assets of Jews in Arab countries is currently being reviewed by the Israeli government.
He noted that the report mentions more than $200 billion in claims that Israel is now demanding as compensation for private properties, which, he claims, were confiscated by ten Arab countries.
Cohen added, “Tens of thousands of Arab Jews are demanding refugee and human rights, specifically the properties that were looted by Arab countries like Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Algeria, Tunisia, and others.”
Israel is attempting to paint a false picture of the situation of Arab Jews during their residence in their original countries, suggesting they were oppressed and forcibly displaced, whereas the testimonies of the Jews themselves indicate that they lived peacefully alongside Muslims and Christians.
Interestingly, the majority of Arab Jews who left their original countries did not migrate to Israel, except for a minority. Instead, they moved to European countries and the Americas, while a minority continued to live in their homeland like other citizens. Israeli officials feel no shame as they spew their toxic lies on this subject, falsely claiming that Arab and Islamic countries stole and seized Jewish properties after expelling them. They demand, on behalf of tens of thousands of Jews, the implementation of refugee and human rights.
These officials seem to have forgotten, or deliberately ignored, the infamous Absentees’ Property Law enacted by Israel in 1950, which allowed the legalization of the confiscation of Palestinian lands and properties if the owners had left for neighboring countries, as well as the use of force to seize their properties and forcibly displace them.
On this basis, isn’t the Palestinian people more entitled to compensation, after their land and properties were stolen and they were subjected to the most brutal forms of killing and displacement by Zionist gangs? Since when has Israel recognized anything called human rights or refugee rights, while it commits the most heinous violations against unarmed Palestinian citizens every day?
The Israelis are trying to exploit the guilt complex that Zionist leaders used to financially blackmail Germany and Austria after World War II, under the pretext of Hitler’s crimes against the Jews, and apply it to Arab countries with the aim of financially “milking them”.
Cohen’s statement is not merely a personal expression; it reflects a carefully prepared plan that is being crafted under official Israeli supervision and is aimed at robbing Arab countries of their wealth, taking advantage of some of their eagerness to normalize relations. It is not unlikely that Israel will officially adopt this plan in the medium term after completing its normalization agenda with Arab countries.
In summary, Israel is trying to create a false narrative about the situation of Arab Jews during their time in their original countries, suggesting they were oppressed and forcibly displaced to occupied Palestine. However, the reality and the testimonies of the Jews themselves indicate that they lived peacefully with their Muslim and Christian counterparts, enriched by a culture of tolerance and good neighborliness. The entity responsible for displacing and uprooting people from their homeland is Israel itself. Today, without shame, it demands compensation for the so-called lost properties of Arab Jews.
Truly, the poet was right when he said: “When one loses their sense of shame, their honor also wanes; there is no good in a face that has lost its water!”
