Saudi Wahhabi Scholar claims: Boycotting is against Islam
In his latest khutbah, Nafi'e Abdullah Al Anzi has stirred significant debate by criticizing the boycott of brands supporting Israel. His comments have raised questions about the true motives behind his stance.
In a recent khutbah, the notorious Wahhabi scholar, Nafi’e Abdullah Al Anzi, launched a despicable attack on those who advocate for the boycott of brands supporting Israel. His twisted justification? He claims that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) never engaged in or commanded boycotts, citing the Prophet’s dealings with the Jews of his time as a weak and deceptive parallel to the current situation with the Zionist occupation. Al Anzi goes further, condemning those who boycott as followers of whims and desires, even suggesting that they may be sinful. He audaciously argues that only if today’s leaders called for a boycott would it be valid, completely ignoring the moral and religious duty of Muslims to stand against oppression and injustice.
In his own words, the Saudi Wahhabi scholar Al Anzi said, “The Prophet never boycotted the products of non-believers… those who boycott are following whims and desires, and it is feared they are sinful… if our leader ordered a boycott, we would say: ‘We hear and obey.'” This blatant distortion of Islamic teachings serves only one purpose: to protect his masters and to maintain the status quo that continues to oppress Muslims worldwide. His attempt to draw a comparison between the Jewish communities in the Prophet’s time and the Zionist entity that has usurped Palestinian lands, committed atrocities, and killed over 40,000 Muslims in Gaza alone in recent months, is not just misleading—it’s an insult to the very essence of Islam.
To understand the treachery of Al Anzi’s words, one must first understand the nature of Wahhabism itself. Wahhabism, from its inception, has been a tool of division and destruction within the Muslim world. Founded by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab in the 18th century, this extremist ideology has consistently betrayed the Muslim Ummah. Wahhabis have historically aligned themselves with oppressive regimes, justifying violence against fellow Muslims while serving the interests of imperial powers. Whether it’s the brutal campaigns against fellow Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula or the more recent atrocities committed by groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda, which draw inspiration from Wahhabi ideology, the pattern is clear: Wahhabism has never been about the upliftment of Islam, but about its subjugation.
Al Anzi is just the latest in a long line of so-called scholars who have chosen to betray their faith and their fellow Muslims. By discouraging the boycott of brands that support the Zionist occupation, he is not only betraying the Palestinian cause but also aligning himself with those who seek to weaken and divide the Muslim world. His words are a stark reminder that Wahhabism, far from being a pure form of Islam, is a dangerous ideology that has caused untold harm to Muslims across the globe.
