In his weekly sermon, Kuwaiti Wahhabi preacher, Salem Al-Tawil, launched an attack on the Jordanian martyr, Maher Al-Jazi, who carried out the operation at the “Al-Karama” crossing, during which three Israeli security guards were killed.
Al-Tawil stated, “Some people today act as though they are champions of Muslim causes, but in reality, they seek fame.”
He referenced the Hadith: “The first to be judged on the Day of Resurrection is a man who was martyred. He will be brought forth, and he will recognize the blessings of Allah upon him, and he will acknowledge them. Allah will ask, ‘What did you do with them?’ He will say, ‘I fought for Your sake until I was martyred.’ Allah will respond, ‘You have lied; you fought so that it would be said that you were brave, and it was said.’ Then he will be dragged on his face and thrown into Hell.”
Al-Tawil commented: “This is extremely dangerous. Today, someone committed an act of killing Israelis in Jordan, writing a ‘will’ to inspire others with his bravery.”
Interestingly, Al-Tawil appeared to have been misled by the alleged will of martyr Maher Al-Jazi, as his family confirmed that their son left no such will behind.
Activists launched a fierce attack on Salem Al-Tawil, accusing him of falsely claiming that Al-Jazi sought fame through his operation, merely to be called ‘brave.’
Salem Al-Tawil is one of the scholars associated with the “Wahhabi Salafist” movement, a group known for continuously opposing any form of resistance against the Israeli occupation.
