Hezbollah has announced the deployment of the “Noor” missile for the first time in its battle against the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the party said, “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and in solidarity with their courageous and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, the Islamic Resistance fighters targeted the Kfar Giladi settlement with a Noor missile.”
Kfar Giladi is located in the occupied Upper Galilee, northern Palestine.
The Noor missile, of Iranian origin, is one of the ballistic missiles possessed by Hezbollah, primarily designed to target ships and naval vessels.
Iranian naval forces developed the Noor missile in 2005, building upon the Chinese C-802 missile.
The range of the Iranian version reaches 120 kilometers, while in other models it exceeds 200 kilometers.
This missile can be launched from ground platforms, battleships, and fighter jets. Additionally, the Iranians have equipped helicopters with this missile, boasting a 98% accuracy rate in hitting targets.
It is believed that Hezbollah used the Noor missile to target the Israeli corvette “Hanit” in 2006, which at the time was the most powerful vessel in the Israeli navy.
On Monday, Sheikh Naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General, affirmed that the martyrdom of Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and the party’s top military leaders will not deter the resistance from continuing the fight against the Israeli occupation.
