In a statement released by Hezbollah, the Lebanese resistance group clarified that “the images published today by the Israeli enemy’s army showing their soldiers near homes in a border village in southern Lebanon were captured in a geographical area only tens of meters away from the occupied territories. It is well known that some southern Lebanese residents built their homes close to the border.”
The statement, quoting a field officer from the Islamic Resistance’s operations room, said, “The occupation aims to obtain these photos, which are desperately needed by Netanyahu, who is in a political crisis. The cost for the Israelis was more than 20 dead and injured elite soldiers, a fact that the Israeli military censor was forced to cover up and hide from the public.”
The statement added that “elite soldiers from the Israeli enemy’s army attempted, this Friday afternoon, after a barrage of artillery and air cover, to advance from two directions towards the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Yaroun at the frontlines. Upon reaching pre-prepared ambush points, Islamic Resistance fighters detonated several explosive devices, some of which were planted the day before.”
The officer continued, “The fighters engaged the elite officers and soldiers with light and medium weapons as well as rocket-propelled grenades from close distances, leading to casualties among the infiltrating force.”
Earlier, the Israeli army had published photos claiming to show homes within the Lebanese town of Kafr Kila.
In previous statements, Hezbollah confirmed that its fighters continued to repel Israeli occupation forces attempting a ground incursion for days in southern Lebanon, inflicting both human and material losses, while rocket strikes on the occupied territories deepened.
Hezbollah’s military statements reported that its fighters “targeted a Merkava tank near the Israeli Malakia outpost with a guided missile, resulting in the tank catching fire and the crew being killed or wounded.”
The fighters also shelled “the Kiryot area in the outskirts of Haifa and the Israeli artillery positions in southern Kiryat Shmona with rocket salvos.”
In another statement, Hezbollah confirmed the killing and wounding of Israeli soldiers after targeting “a group of Israeli vehicles and soldiers in the Maroun al-Ras plain with artillery shells.”
Among the sites targeted by Hezbollah were “Rweisat al-Alam in the occupied Kfar Shouba hills, the Carmiel settlement, and clusters of Israeli vehicles and soldiers in Sa’sa, which were hit with a heavy Burkan missile and rocket salvos on Kiryat Shmona.”
Hezbollah also announced that it shelled the “Nafah base and a gathering of soldiers near the Baghdadi outpost in northern occupied Palestine with a large missile barrage.”
The statement confirmed that Hezbollah fighters had also targeted several Israeli troop gatherings in East Dovev, the Maroun al-Ras plain, and the surroundings of Avivim and Yiron settlements with heavy rocket strikes.
Further Israeli targets included the Katsrin base, a gathering of soldiers in Kfar Giladi, and the Hatzor settlement, which were all hit with rocket salvos.
