Saudi Arabia is set to host the first high-level meeting of the “Global Coalition for the Two-State Solution” in Riyadh next Wednesday, as announced by the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister, Waleed Al-Khuraiji.
Al-Khuraiji made this statement during the Ninth Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, held in Barcelona, Spain, according to a Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.
He emphasized “the importance of reinforcing efforts by the Union for the Mediterranean to enhance regional security, particularly at this critical juncture that demands decisive action to halt ongoing escalation, violence, and destruction in the region.”
He added, “The Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon has brought the region to a crucial crossroads, presenting the international community with two consequential choices: either to act decisively in upholding international law and advancing the two-state solution, or to risk further escalation and deepening of suffering, which would undermine the credibility of international efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.”
In September, Saudi Arabia announced the formation of an “International Coalition” aimed at establishing a Palestinian state and implementing the two-state solution.
This announcement was made during a ministerial meeting on the Palestinian issue and peace efforts, held on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York City, USA.
Earlier, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, affirmed that the region and surrounding areas would not witness security, stability, or prosperity unless the Palestinian people attain their full rights, foremost among them being the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Bassem Naeem, a member of Hamas’ Political Bureau, stated in a statement last Saturday: “There will be no security, stability, or prosperity in the region without the realization of our people’s complete rights, most importantly, their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
He continued, “Our people demand immediate intervention to halt Israel’s genocidal crimes and to enforce international will, as represented by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2735, which calls for ending aggression, withdrawing occupation forces, lifting the blockade, and securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
