The War Book by veteran American journalist Bob Woodward reveals secretive details about UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s stance on dealing with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza shortly after the “Al-Aqsa Flood” attack.
The book discloses that Mohammed bin Zayed conspired to completely eliminate the Palestinian resistance and incited Washington to provide all necessary support to Israel for the destruction of Gaza and its resistance, while opening a window for humanitarian supplies to avoid angering the Arab and Islamic public opinion.
Chapter 46 of the book, which sparked global controversy, details the first direct conversation held by U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken with Mohammed bin Zayed to explore the UAE’s position on the Al-Aqsa Flood attack and Israel’s response.
Blinken began his first tour of the Middle East on October 12, 2023, only five days after the Al-Aqsa Flood attack, which resulted in approximately 1200 Israeli deaths and about 250 others taken captive and held in Gaza.
The War Book notes that Blinken made it a point to visit the UAE to meet Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, known as “MBZ,” the “leader of the royal family in Abu Dhabi.”
The book documents MBZ telling the American minister, “Hamas must be eliminated. We can allow Israel the space to destroy Hamas, but Israel must give us space.”
Mohammed bin Zayed, dubbed the Arab Devil, addressing Blinken, added, “Let the humanitarian aid in.. establish safe zones to ensure they do not kill civilians.. and control the violence of the settlers in the West Bank.”
The book mentions that “the demands of the UAE president were understandable in the context that calm would help soothe UAE citizens who were upset by the scenes of destruction in Gaza.”
Mohammed bin Zayed’s clear and fair request to the Israelis – give us space so we can give you space – lingered in Blinken’s mind. The Emirati leaders were prepared to allow Israel the space to deal with Hamas, but Israel needed to create space for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Mohammed bin Zayed added that “Israel was indirectly providing financial support to Hamas,” and warned, “We have cautioned Israel about dealing with Hamas. They are a part of the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Recently, the book titled “The War” by renowned investigative journalist Bob Woodward, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner known for his investigation in the “Watergate” scandal of the 1970s leading to the resignation of then-President Richard Nixon, was published.
The War Book stirred a sensation upon its release on October 15, 2024; it was described by famous American writer Lawrence O’Donnell as “shocking, and the most significant October revelation of the 21st century so far.”
Woodward’s book spans 448 pages in medium trim size and covers three main topics: the Ukrainian War, the Gaza War, and the U.S. presidential election race.
