Carrefour has announced the closure of its branches in Jordan following boycott campaigns that targeted several brands due to their support for Israel, which has been waging a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip for over a year.
The announcement was made on the company’s official Facebook page.
The post stated, “As of November 4, 2024, Carrefour will cease all operations in Jordan and will not continue its activities within the kingdom.”
The company added, “We thank our customers for their support and apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause.”
Since October 7, 2023, global brands have faced popular boycotts in Arab, Islamic, and foreign countries due to their direct or indirect support for Israel, which is leading a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
The boycott campaigns are not limited to Jordan alone but have affected brands, basic goods, and even some types of medicines in other Arab and Islamic countries, revealing the extent of the difficulties these brands face in conducting their activities.
With American support, Israel has been waging a genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in more than 145,000 Palestinian casualties, most of them children and women, with over 10,000 missing amidst massive destruction and a famine that has killed dozens of children and the elderly.
Tel Aviv continues its massacres, ignoring a UN Security Council resolution to immediately end the war and orders from the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
