The UAE, under the leadership of its regime in Abu Dhabi, has deeply veered off course, embracing the disgrace of normalization and alliances with Israel at the expense of the Palestinian cause and hostility toward Palestinian resistance.
A History of Betrayal
-
- 2013: The UAE withdrew its ambassador from Tunisia after then-President Moncef Marzouki called for the release of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi following the military coup in Egypt, which was fully backed by Abu Dhabi.
-
- 2015: The UAE withdrew its ambassador from Sweden after Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström criticized Saudi Arabia’s human rights record and called for the release of Gulf prisoners of conscience.
-
- 2021: The UAE recalled its ambassador from Lebanon after Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi criticized the war in Yemen, in which the UAE is a prominent aggressor.
-
- 2023-2024: Despite the genocidal massacres carried out by Israel against Palestinians, including the deaths of over 60,000 martyrs, displacement of millions, and widespread starvation, the UAE has maintained its diplomatic ties with Israel and kept its ambassador in Tel Aviv.
Economic and Political Collusion
-
- In July 2020, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed led a delegation to Austria. Shortly after, Austria launched a campaign targeting Muslims under the pretext of alleged support for Palestinian resistance, particularly Hamas.
-
- In September 2021, Mohammed bin Zayed visited the UK and pledged a $10 billion investment. Two months later, the UK designated Hamas as a terrorist organization.
-
- In September 2024, Mohammed bin Zayed led a delegation to the U.S. Just a month later, the U.S. blacklisted Sheikh Hamid al-Ahmar for his support of Palestinian resistance and Hamas.
The UAE’s Plot Against Gaza
Diplomatic sources recently unveiled details of a conspiracy jointly orchestrated by the UAE and Israel to impose what they call the “Day After Plan” for Gaza, aimed at eradicating the resistance from the Strip.
Key Details of the Plan:
-
- Deployment of military contractors (mercenaries) in Gaza.
-
- Granting Israel supreme authority to manage and monitor the Strip.
-
- Long-term marginalization of Hamas and other resistance factions.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) has officially rejected this UAE-Israeli plan and communicated its stance to the U.S. The PA sees the plan as yet another UAE attempt to interfere in Palestinian internal affairs and undermine the Palestinian struggle.
UAE Conditions for Gaza Reconstruction
The UAE’s plan imposes preconditions that:
-
- Depict the PA as corrupt and illegitimate.
-
- Demand reforms within the PA to “restore credibility” among Palestinians and international partners.
-
- Call for appointing a new Prime Minister and establishing a “Gaza Committee” through presidential decree.
The plan envisions the initial absence of Palestinian control over security and introduces a foreign-led security force composed of Arab troops and military contractors.
The UAE’s “Day After Plan”
Goals and Priorities:
-
- Respond to the humanitarian crisis by coordinating aid and reconstruction.
-
- Establish law and order in Gaza.
-
- Lay the groundwork for governance and eventual unification of Gaza and the West Bank under a single Palestinian Authority.
Prerequisites:
-
- PA Reforms: Transparency and accountability are required to regain credibility and recognition as the sole legitimate authority in Gaza.
-
- Israeli Concessions: Progress toward a two-state solution.
Plan Components:
-
- Deployment of a temporary international mission at the PA’s request to replace the Israeli military presence in Gaza.
-
- Oversight by the international mission to stabilize Gaza and enforce the rule of law.
-
- Inclusion of troops from Arab countries and contractors.
Supervisory Committees:
-
- A Temporary International Steering Committee comprising the UAE, U.S., and regional actors will oversee implementation, ensure progress, and coordinate funding.
-
- A Gaza Committee, vetted by Israel and the Steering Committee, will handle daily administration, economic recovery, and public services.
Gaza Reconstruction:
-
- Managed by the PA with financial support from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and international donors.
-
- Efforts focus on infrastructure restoration, essential services, and re-establishing PA institutions in Gaza.
Timetable for Initial Steps:
-
- Issuance of a presidential decree to form a new PA government and establish the Gaza Committee.
-
- Appointment of a technocratic Prime Minister (e.g., Salam Fayyad) to oversee Gaza and the West Bank.
-
- PA-led reforms to enable reconstruction and governance in Gaza.
-
- Request for a temporary international mission to stabilize Gaza.
-
- Reconstruction supported by Gulf and international donors.
