The Ka’abah, which holds an unparalleled significance for Muslims, is the direction towards which over a billion Muslims turn in prayer. The sanctity of the Ka’abah is enshrined in the heart of every Muslim and is an eternal symbol of the unity of the Ummah. It is not just a building, but a profound spiritual center that represents the presence of Allah’s guidance on Earth. For centuries, this sacred site has been safeguarded with utmost reverence, with even the slightest sign of disrespect being condemned by the Muslim community worldwide.

Yet, under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and his ally, Turki Al-Sheikh—responsible for the Riyadh Season—Saudi Arabia has allowed such acts of defilement to occur. This incident of parading naked models around a structure resembling the Holy Ka’abah is not a mere lapse in judgment; it is a deliberate attack on the very essence of Islam and the sacredness of Mecca. It is as if a calculated strategy is unfolding to strip away the sanctity of the holy cities, beginning with the Ka’abah.

A Dire Warning from Prophetic Tradition

In the hadiths of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warns of the eventual destruction of the Ka’abah by a man from Abyssinia, known as “Dhu al-Suwaiqatayn.” According to these narrations, the destruction of the Ka’abah is foretold to occur near the end of times, at a period when the Earth will be devoid of believers, and when the call to Allah will no longer be heard. This prophetic statement is clear in its timing, signifying that such a tragedy will occur during the final days before the arrival of the Mahdi and the descent of Isa “Jesus” (peace be upon him).

However, many scholars, including Ibn Hajar, have clarified that the destruction of the Ka’abah will not happen suddenly. Instead, its sanctity will be slowly eroded, first through the loss of respect in the hearts of the people, and then by physical destruction. If the Ka’abah is to be destroyed, it will not come as a sudden calamity but will be preceded by a gradual loss of reverence, which is what we are witnessing today. By allowing such vulgar displays to occur so close to the Holy Ka’abah, Saudi Arabia is setting a dangerous precedent that may eventually lead to the actual physical destruction of this holy site. And when that time comes, the Kingdom may no longer be trusted to safeguard it.
