In a comprehensive assessment of the situation in the Gaza Strip, military and strategic expert Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi emphasized that the continued firing of rockets from Gaza points to the collapse of Israel’s military strategy, despite extensive international support.
Speaking during a “military analysis” segment—and responding to the activation of sirens in Kerem Shalom and the town of Sderot (and its surroundings) after rockets were launched from southern Gaza—Al-Falahi noted that these developments emerge amid ongoing negotiations in Doha, where each side aims to display its strengths.
Al-Falahi explained that over 15 months into the war, the resumption of rocket fire indicates that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) still possesses significant military capabilities. It sends a clear message that the resistance factions have long accounted for the possibility of a protracted battle.
Regarding the military operations in northern Gaza, Al-Falahi observed that Israel’s inability to silence the resistance there—despite over 100 days of a sustained ground campaign—highlights its failure to meet key military goals. He further noted that the Israeli army, bolstered by considerable American and Western support, has nonetheless been unable to break the resolve of the Palestinian fighter.
A “Drain on Israeli Forces”
Al-Falahi pointed out that areas in northern Gaza—particularly Jabalia Camp and Beit Hanoun—have become a “major drain” on Israel’s military. One noteworthy development, he said, is how resistance factions are making use of unexploded ordnance left behind by the Israeli army, repurposing it for future confrontations.
Assessing the overall military balance, Al-Falahi stressed that if Israel could not accomplish its objectives during the past several months, it is even less likely to do so within the remaining timeframe. Significantly, the Palestinian resistance has also succeeded in retaining Israeli captives, despite the army’s advanced intelligence and operational capabilities.
Al-Falahi concluded that the confrontations in Gaza have grown “extremely intense,” reflecting ever-evolving resistance tactics. He praised the resilience and adaptability of Palestinian factions, especially in northern Gaza, where they have proven capable of weathering and responding to various combat conditions.
