Narrations Regarding the Garments of Paradise
Ibn Hanad As-Sari related:
“Abu Al-Ahwas narrated from Abu Ishaq, who narrated from Al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him), that a piece of silk was gifted to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). People began passing it around (to admire its quality), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘Are you amazed by this?’ They replied, ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’
He said, ‘By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the handkerchiefs of Sa’d ibn Mu’adh in Paradise are better than this.’”
(Then Ibn Hanad said,) “Qabeesah narrated from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Ar-Rahman ibn ‘Amr ibn Sa’d ibn Mu’adh:
‘‘Atadar ibn Hajib gifted the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) a garment of dibaj (a type of silk brocade) which was originally presented to him by Kisra (the Persian emperor). People gathered around it, touching it and marveling, and they asked, “O Messenger of Allah, was this sent down to you from the heavens?” He (peace be upon him) replied, “Why are you so amazed? By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the handkerchiefs of Sa’d ibn Mu’adh in Paradise are superior to this. O boy, take this to Abu Jahl (Abu Juhm) and bring us his Anbajaniyyah (a cloak).”’”
