U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his genuine desire to annex Canada into the United States, making it the 51st American state.
During an interview with Fox News, Trump stated, “I am serious about wanting Canada to become the 51st American state,” emphasizing that this is a real idea and that he is committed to making it happen.
He continued: “I believe Canada would be in a much better position if it became the 51st state because we are losing $200 billion annually with Canada. I will not let that happen. Why should we pay $200 billion per year as a subsidy to Canada?”
Trump added that “the United States does not provide subsidies to Canada. The U.S. purchases goods from the resource-rich country, including commodities such as oil. While the trade gap in goods has expanded in recent years to reach $72 billion in 2023, the deficit largely reflects America’s energy imports from Canada.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remarked last Friday during a closed session with business and labor leaders that “Trump’s talk about making Canada the 51st U.S. state is real and linked to his desire to access the country’s natural resources.”
Since taking office on January 20, Trump has sparked widespread reactions with his controversial decisions and statements, including his stance on the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
Trump has reignited controversy with new remarks regarding his plan to displace Gaza’s residents to other countries.
In his latest statements, Trump asserted that he is committed to “purchasing and owning Gaza,” adding, “I may grant parts of it to other Middle Eastern countries for redevelopment.”
Speaking to reporters, he added, “I will take care of the Palestinians and ensure they are not killed,” stating, “I will transform Gaza into a place for development.”
Reiterating his stance, Trump said: “Gaza is a prime real estate location that we cannot leave as it is, and we will rebuild it through wealthy Middle Eastern countries.”
He concluded: “There is nothing left to return to in Gaza. The place is a demolition site. The rest will be demolished. Everything will be demolished.”
