Nawaf al-Moussawi, the Hezbollah official responsible for resources and borders, stated that the party suffered from significant security lapses during the recent Israeli aggression, and that an internal investigation is underway to assess all security and military incidents.
In an interview with Al-Mayadeen TV, Moussawi said: “The Israeli achievements they boast about against us were not due to intelligence, but rather due to lapses on our side and sometimes negligence, such as the ‘Pager’ attack.”
He continued: “If I had received a gift hour, I would have sent it to our preventive security for inspection. When I used to go to His Eminence Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, I would have all my rings, shirt buttons, and everything else checked. How then could I carry a pager without inspecting it?”
He commented: “It’s unfortunate that today, the Israelis send a gold pager to the U.S. President; this is not an achievement,” revealing that the founder of the Radwan Forces, “Hajj Imad (Mughniyeh), is the one who invented the technique of rigging the pager during his work.”
Moussawi further revealed that Nasrallah sensed there had been a “technical breach,” and thus resorted to sending documents as we do now. He also admitted that there was a human breach as well, which has been investigated by the relevant security agencies. He emphasized that “if we rectify the lapses, if we eliminate the negligence, if we can address the technical and human breaches, we will cause the Israelis significant losses.”
Regarding the assassination of Hashem Safieddine, Moussawi said: “If I were in Sayyid Hashem’s place, I would not have gone to the location where he sat. I can still see clearly that the place of Sayyid’s office was exposed… I asked them here? (referring to the office), they said yes here, and he agreed. He did not tell them to move the place… there was an exposed office, so what am I betting on when I sit in a similar place?”
However, Moussawi acknowledged the boldness of Safieddine, describing him as “brave, courageous, and a martyr.” He lamented the loss of Sayyid Hashem, stating, “I wish he had left the Southern Suburb.”
Concerning the potential assassination of Nasrallah, Moussawi expressed his surprise at Nasrallah’s presence in Harat Hreik, the place where the assassination attempt occurred.
He explained: “We’re talking about a small area (Harat Hreik), and the Israelis can count the sand in it… I was shocked that he was there.” He stressed that “the U.S. is a partner in the decision and execution of the assassination of Martyr Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah,” reminding that “American intelligence operations against Hezbollah are ten times greater than Israeli operations since 2000.”
Moussawi acknowledged that the party suffered heavy blows but has not been defeated, as well as the entire resistance front. He stressed that the resistance inflicted substantial losses on the Israeli occupation “at the height of the war,” and “achieved significant accomplishments during it,” citing the “Qaysaria operation,” where a Hezbollah drone reached the home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He further explained that Hezbollah “is capable of delivering strikes to the Israeli occupation, if we address the lapses, end the negligence, and resolve the technical and human breaches,” noting that “the quantity of lapses and breaches is large.”
Moussawi added that American intelligence operations against Hezbollah “are ten times the level of Israeli operations since 2000,” stating that the American intelligence program serves Israeli interests.
