Hebrew media outlets have released new footage of the head of Hamas’ political bureau in Gaza, the martyr Yehya Sinwar, inside the house where he clashed with Israeli occupation forces in the Tel Sultan neighborhood west of Rafah City.
The Israeli newspaper “Israel Hayom” reported that it obtained the video filmed by soldiers from Battalion 450 of the Israeli army, showing Sinwar sitting, injured and exhausted, on a couch inside a house in Rafah—the same house where he was martyred on October 16, 2024.
The newspaper indicated that this 37-second video, published for the first time, shows Sinwar armed with an AK-47 rifle, wearing a combat vest, and holding hand grenades. He had also been injured in his right arm after being shot by Israeli forces shortly before the video was filmed.
The report highlighted that Sinwar threw two hand grenades at an Israeli force led by Major Hode Shraibman (who was later killed during the battles in Jabalia). Immediately afterward, tanks began firing at the building where Sinwar was sheltering.
The newspaper quoted Shraibman’s assistant, who said: “The tank fired, and there was a lot of smoke, then we deployed the drone inside the house. We saw a figure wearing a military vest who started throwing stones at the drone…”
The same source mentioned that after additional tank shelling, the drone re-entered the house. This time, Sinwar was seen sitting on a couch inside a gap in the wall, looking like he was in pain and completely exhausted. He made no attempt to fire or throw anything at the drone.
The report continued: “After the second drone mission, the forces fired additional shells at the building. The drone then entered the house for the third time. This time, the famous video was filmed, showing Sinwar throwing a stick at the drone. Minutes later, he was buried under the rubble of the house after another round of tank shelling.”
On October 18, 2024, Hamas mourned its leader Sinwar, confirming his martyrdom in a confrontation with Israeli soldiers. This came a day after the Israeli military and the Shin Bet security service issued a joint statement announcing the killing of three individuals in a military operation in Gaza, among them Sinwar.
The Israeli occupation regards Sinwar as the mastermind behind Operation “Al-Aqsa Deluge,” which was carried out by Palestinian factions in Gaza, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad, against Israeli settlements and military bases near the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. The operation caused significant human and military losses to Tel Aviv and severely impacted the reputation of its security and intelligence agencies on the international stage.
