The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” highlighted the warning issued by the U.S. government on the official website of the American Embassy, in light of the ongoing security escalation, which includes missile launches from Lebanon, Gaza, and Yemen.
The newspaper pointed out that the American warning also includes Iran, which is behind these actions, and warned of the return of widespread protests to the streets.
It mentioned that “Given the timing of the U.S. warning, and in light of the large-scale attacks recently carried out by the U.S. military in Yemen, there are fears that this could also be a warning of a larger and more significant escalation, possibly against Iran, which has issued repeated threats against Israel and the United States in recent days.”
The report continued: “The travel warning issued by the U.S. embassy, which also includes ‘Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza,’ stated: ‘Due to the evolving security situation in the region, including the return of “Red Alerts” and widespread street protests, the U.S. Embassy reminds American citizens to remain vigilant and increase security awareness.'”
It also states: “Including avoiding large gatherings or demonstrations, and seeking shelter or a protected space wherever you go, due to the fear of missile fire, mortar shells, and drones, which sometimes occur without prior warning.” The warning emphasized that “the security environment is complex and could change at any moment.”
Meanwhile, the Arab-Islamic ministerial committee expressed its deep concern over the collapse of the ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
This was stated in a statement issued following a meeting in Cairo with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The meeting included, in addition to Borrell, the Foreign Ministers of Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Bahrain, and the UAE Minister of State, as well as the Secretaries-General of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The meeting’s statement referred to discussions of the recent developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The statement noted that the participants “expressed their grave concern over the collapse of the ceasefire in Gaza, which resulted in a significant number of civilian casualties due to recent airstrikes.”
They condemned “the resumption of hostilities and the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure,” and called for “the immediate return to the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the release of hostages, and detainees…”
They also emphasized the “need to move towards the second phase of the agreement for its full implementation, including the release of all hostages, a permanent end to hostilities, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2735.”
