From Palestine to Iraq, from Syria to Afghanistan, and from Yemen to Sudan—the Muslim world has been a consistent theater of war, intervention, and destabilisation. These are not disconnected crises; they are chapters in a long, calculated project driven by a powerful ideological alliance. Behind the scenes, an unholy trinity has shaped foreign policy and global perception: Zionism, Evangelical fundamentalism, and neocolonial interests. The modern so-called “War on Terror” has served as a cloak for something far older and more sinister: a modern Crusade. But how did these theological and political currents align so perfectly? And why is the Muslim world always in the crosshairs?
Part I: The Evangelical Obsession with Israel – Theology Meets Geopolitics
The unquestioning American support for Israel is often explained in terms of strategic alliances and pro-Israel lobbying. But there is a deeper, more potent force at work: Christian Zionism. Tens of millions of American Evangelicals believe the modern state of Israel is the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. In their eschatological vision, the return of Jews to the Holy Land is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Christ and the final battle of Armageddon.
Organisations like Christians United for Israel (CUFI) wield immense political influence, lobbying U.S. lawmakers to support Israel unconditionally. These Christian Zionists see any opposition to Israel as opposition to God’s divine plan. As a result, U.S. foreign policy is often held hostage by religious zealotry disguised as political strategy.
Part II: Zionism Finds Its Crusader Ally
While Theodor Herzl’s original Zionism was a secular nationalist movement, it quickly aligned with Christian fundamentalists to gain legitimacy and power. Zionist strategists understood that Evangelical fervour for Israel could be weaponised into long-term political capital.
This alignment produced a narrative in which Israel is not just an ally—but a sacred entity. Every war, occupation, or human rights violation committed by the Israeli regime is excused, rationalised, or even celebrated by Evangelical politicians and media figures. The Muslim world, in this narrative, becomes the enemy of prophecy—an obstacle to Israel’s divine expansion.
Part III: The War on Terror – A Crusade in Disguise
In the wake of 9/11, the global stage was set for a sweeping, open-ended campaign that would reshape the Muslim world. The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, then Iraq, and the subsequent military operations in Libya, Syria, Yemen, and beyond were justified as a fight against terrorism. In reality, they were part of a larger strategy to fragment strong Muslim nations, redraw borders, and ensure Israeli and Western dominance.
George W. Bush famously referred to his military campaign as a “crusade.” That was no accident. The wars that followed decimated Muslim infrastructure, disbanded national armies, created refugee crises, and allowed extremist proxies to fill power vacuums—many of them armed and trained with Western assistance. The result? A manufactured chaos that justified endless military presence and Israeli supremacy.
Part IV: Documents That Prove the Strategy
This is not conspiracy theory—it is strategic doctrine, often laid out in public documents:
-
- The Oded Yinon Plan (1982): A blueprint for dividing Arab states into ethnic and sectarian mini-states to secure Israel’s supremacy.
-
- The Project for a New American Century (PNAC): A neoconservative manifesto calling for the remaking of the Middle East under U.S. hegemony.
-
- Statements by U.S. leaders: George Bush said his war was a mission from God. Evangelical senators routinely cite Scripture when discussing Middle East policy.
Together, these documents reveal a long-standing goal: to weaken the Muslim world militarily, politically, and spiritually.
Part V: The Double Standard – Muslims Bleed, Israel Thrives
In all these “anti-terror” wars, one nation remains untouched: Israel. Despite its occupation, its violations of international law, and its aggressive expansionism, it remains untouchable. Meanwhile, extremist groups like ISIS never once launched a direct campaign against Israel. Instead, they slaughtered Muslims, destroyed Muslim heritage, and helped justify foreign invasions.
This paradox must be confronted: if these groups were truly defending Islam, why do they serve the strategic interests of Israel and the U.S.? Why are their victims overwhelmingly Muslim? Why are they most active in countries critical of Israel or resistant to Western dominance?
Part VI: Islam’s True Message and the Way Forward
The true Islamic tradition—as preserved by classical Sunni scholars like the Ash‘aris—rejects violence against innocents, condemns sectarian bloodshed, and stands for justice. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was described by the Qur’an as a “Mercy to the worlds” (21:107). Islam’s history of coexistence, intellectual flourishing, and interfaith respect stands in sharp contrast to the image painted by today’s manufactured conflicts.
To counter this modern crusade, Muslims must revive authentic scholarship, unite across sectarian lines, and expose the political theatre masquerading as divine destiny. We must stop allowing others to write our narrative.
Conclusion:
The world is not witnessing a war between civilizations. It is witnessing a war between truth and manufactured illusion. The alliance of Zionist and Evangelical forces has resurrected a crusader spirit, cloaked in diplomacy and weaponised through media and military might. But their power lies in deception. And the first step to liberation is clarity.
It’s time to ask: Will the Muslim world remain a battlefield for someone else’s prophecy—or rise to reclaim its own destiny?
