In a strongly worded statement, the International Union of Muslim Scholars has declared the obligation of armed jihad against the Israeli occupation. The union called for a comprehensive siege — by land, sea, and air — and urged Islamic countries to intervene militarily, financially, and politically in support of the Palestinian resistance.
A Call to Action Amid Genocide in Gaza
The statement condemned the ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of over 50,000 Palestinians, describing it as a systematic genocide carried out with direct support from the United States, amid Arab silence and the inaction of the broader Islamic world.
The union asserted that the Israeli violation of ceasefire agreements reflects a consistent pattern of dishonouring pacts and treaties. It placed full responsibility on Islamic governments, warning that their failure to act constitutes a grave crime against the Palestinian people.
The union also denounced all forms of normalisation with the occupying entity, including military and economic cooperation, labelling such acts as a betrayal of the Islamic ummah.
A Unified Islamic Military Alliance Urged
The statement called for the formation of a unified Islamic military alliance capable of defending the Muslim ummah and its sanctities, and counterbalancing global powers that respect only force. It further demanded the review and termination of treaties with the occupying power, the severing of political, economic, and cultural ties, and a boycott of all companies supporting the Israeli regime.
Jihad Through Wealth and Scholar Responsibility
The union emphasised the duty of financial jihad, urging Muslims to support the mujahideen and their families, and reminded Islamic scholars of their moral responsibility to speak the truth and pressure their governments to fulfil their religious obligations.
Appreciation for Global Solidarity and a Call for Unity
In conclusion, the union expressed gratitude to nations, communities, and institutions that have stood by the Palestinian cause — whether through humanitarian aid or courageous political stances — and called upon the entire Islamic world to unite in prayer, advocacy, and support for the people of Gaza during this critical moment.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation — with unwavering U.S. backing — has been carrying out a genocidal campaign in Gaza, resulting in more than 165,000 dead and wounded, the vast majority of whom are women and children. Over 11,000 Palestinians remain missing under the rubble, their fate unknown.
The Israeli regime continues its intensified military onslaught on Gaza amid a complete collapse of the humanitarian and health sectors, all under a suffocating blockade imposed by Tel Aviv — in blatant defiance of repeated international appeals to end the siege.
