In a covert move aimed at salvaging its global image, the United Arab Emirates has launched a coordinated media campaign to whitewash its role in fueling bloodshed across the region—particularly its support for militias accused of genocide in Sudan.
According to credible leaks obtained by Emirates Leaks, the Emirati regime is deploying a multi-pronged propaganda strategy, using every available tool to counter rising public outrage over its destructive influence in Africa and the Arab world.
Whitewashing Through “Humanitarian” Facades
Central to the campaign is the aggressive recycling of the narrative that “the UAE has clean hands,” bolstered by staged reports showcasing Emirati “humanitarian aid” in conflict zones such as Africa and Palestine. These are designed not to serve victims but to rehabilitate Abu Dhabi’s tarnished image.
The regime also promotes defensive talking points such as, “Those who do good are always envied,” implying that criticism stems from jealousy rather than legitimate anger at the UAE’s complicity in war crimes.
Polishing the Image of Sudanese Militias
The UAE is taking unprecedented steps to rebrand the notorious Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the Sudanese militia long tied to Emirati support. This includes circulating videos of RSF members speaking about “patriotism,” “support for Palestine,” and other noble causes, in a bid to erase their violent reputation.
Footage of alleged new recruits is being published to manufacture the illusion of public backing, framing the Sudanese conflict as an internal matter, thus distancing the UAE from its central role.
Social Media Manipulation and Influencer Recruitment
The campaign also hinges on leveraging Arab and Gulf influencers. Selected individuals are being prompted to flood social media with posts defending the UAE and attacking its critics. These online voices are carefully curated to shape public opinion and drown out factual reporting.
Lobbying Western Powers
Another key pillar involves cleaning up the UAE’s reputation in Western circles. Backed by the Israeli lobby, the regime is pressuring the British government to include the UAE in international peace efforts in Sudan. While representatives of the UAE and RSF will be invited to participate, Sudan’s army and legitimate government are being sidelined.
Simultaneously, a UK-based PR firm has been contracted to roll out reports portraying the UAE as a “peace broker under unjust attack,” aiming to undermine Sudan’s genocide lawsuit filed against Abu Dhabi at the International Court of Justice.
Strategic Obstruction of International Justice
These efforts are geared toward shaping Western public opinion to reject Sudan’s ICJ case or at least question its legitimacy. It’s a calculated maneuver to buy time, deflect accountability, and reframe the narrative in international arenas.
Sudan’s Legal Offensive
Sudan officially filed a lawsuit at the ICJ on March 5, accusing the UAE of violating the Genocide Convention by backing RSF militias involved in ethnic cleansing in West Darfur.
Earlier, in April, Sudan also submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations Security Council, urging immediate measures to halt what it called “UAE aggression” through its sustained support of the RSF.
Conclusion
Despite its financial power and diplomatic clout, the UAE’s media campaign is unlikely to erase years of complicity in war crimes. The regime may succeed in manipulating perceptions for a time, but facts have a way of resurfacing. As Sudan’s legal battle intensifies, the world will be forced to confront the truth behind Abu Dhabi’s “white-glove” diplomacy—a cover for blood-soaked ambitions.
