Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, announced that its fighters successfully sniped an Israeli sniper in Shuja’iyya, a district in eastern Gaza City.
In a military statement, the group confirmed that the sniper was positioned atop Al-Muntar Hill—an elevated point overlooking wide areas of Shuja’iyya—when he was taken out by one of their own snipers.
In recent days, Israeli military vehicles have advanced toward Al-Muntar, with one tank notably stationed to monitor the entire district amid heavy artillery shelling.
Simultaneously, Hebrew-language accounts—often beyond the reach of Israeli military censorship—reported that an Israeli force fell into an ambush inside a house in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood.
The reports said that Palestinian resistance fighters surrounded the infiltrating force after it entered a residential home on the outskirts of the district. Fierce clashes ensued, resulting in multiple injuries among the Israeli soldiers, who had to be airlifted by military helicopters.
Eyewitnesses from Gaza confirmed seeing evacuation aircraft in the eastern parts of the city, suggesting that the occupation suffered casualties—either wounded or killed—due to the ambush.
According to the same Hebrew sources, two Israeli soldiers were injured by resistance gunfire and evacuated via military chopper east of Shuja’iyya.
Meanwhile, Al-Qassam Brigades—the armed wing of Hamas—announced a separate ambush targeting an Israeli unit in eastern Rafah, southern Gaza.
Al-Qassam stated that the Israeli unit had infiltrated a home, where they were ambushed with a pre-planted explosive.
The house was detonated the moment the soldiers entered, leading to multiple casualties—some killed, others wounded.
