The Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf said in a statement that it had opened an investigation into the incident of circulation of a copy of the Holy Qur’an devoid of Surah al-Nisaa’, in a remarkable and unjustified incident, according to the activists of the social media.
The ministry’s statement on Twitter indicated that Issa Al-Kandari, the Kuwaiti Minister of Awqaf, assigned the “Public Authority for the Care of the Printing of the Qur’an” to provide an explanation of the circumstances of this incident, and to identify the perpetrator, and that the minister gave the authority 3 days to respond, considering the issue of a high degree of importance.
This came after activists circulated on social media platforms and the application of “WhatsApp” for a copy of the Qur’an devoid of pages (74-105), which is the space occupied by Surat al-Nisaa’.
A state of anger prevailed on the social media after the news was circulated, and activists questioned the role of the relevant regulatory bodies, and the justifications for the occurrence of this disaster.
The Public Authority for the Care of the Printing of the Qur’an in Kuwait is the authority concerned with issuing permits to print the Holy Qur’an.
Tweeters circulated a video clip of a Kuwaiti citizen documenting the absence of Surat Al-Nisaa’ in a copy of the Noble Qur’an, directing his speech to the Ministry of Awqaf.
The citizen said in the video: “Watch this copy of the Holy Quran that begins with Surat Al-Baqarah, then Surat Al-Imran, and after that there is no Surat Al-Nisaa’, we move immediately from page 73 to 106, no one torn it up and it is 100% intact.”
He continued: “How did this book enter us, where is the Ministry of Awqaf, tomorrow they will include Zionists in our noble book without the knowledge of the Ministry of Awqaf, a complete Surah does not exist. Take care of yourself, and fear God.”
