Extremist Ben-Gvir calls for killing one Palestinian prisoner a day

Israeli occupation Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir made another racist statement on Monday, calling for the daily execution of the longest-serving Palestinian prisoners affiliated with Hamas for every day an Israeli captive is not released.

Ben-Gvir called for an end to negotiations with Hamas, advocating for a decisive approach. He stated that if Israeli hostages were not released daily, a “member of the elite” would be executed.

In another context, Ben-Gvir admitted that “Hamas has not been defeated after 73 days of fighting, and it was not deterred on October 7.”

Ben-Gvir stated that in order to defeat Hamas, there should be no transfer of funds in the name of the Palestinian Authority or any other entity, and entry of aid trucks into the Gaza Strip should be prohibited.

Ben-Gvir’s remarks came shortly after he instructed the Israeli Prison Service Commissioner to ready an underground facility, which has been unused for years and is deemed unfit, for Palestinian Resistance fighters detained during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The proposed location is an infrequently used underground wing of the “Nitzan prison” in the central city of “Ramle”, as per Israeli media reports.

According to Ynet, approximately 100 Palestinians could be placed in the underground wing, as per assessments.

On October 17, the Israeli occupation’s Prison Service Commissioner, Katy Perry, stated that “Israel” had around 118 “unlawful combatants” from Gaza, referring to Palestinian fighters, in detention. However, more recent figures have not been disclosed.

Commenting on this issue, Ben-Gvir, overseeing the prison service through his office, stated, “Our current approach is to provide minimal conditions for these atrocious murderers.”

At the time, the Israeli occupation reportedly conducted an abduction campaign targeting Gazans housed in UN shelters, where men were stripped in the streets in the cold and were then taken to unknown locations. Simultaneously, the chairman of the EuroMed Human Rights Monitor Rami Abdu also reported mass executions for dozens of Palestinian men in northern Gaza.

WAFA news agency reported, on December 3, that six Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons were tortured to death by the Israeli occupation, citing a statement by the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and ex-Detainees Affairs.

This comes as part of the systematic campaign of assaults against Palestinian detainees and prisoners since October 7.

The six Palestinians who were martyred as a result of Israeli torture are Omar Daraghmeh from Tubas, Arafat Hamdan from Ramallah, Majed Zaqoul from Gaza, Abdel Rahman Marei from Salfit, Thaer Abu Assab from Qalqilya, and a martyr whose identity was not disclosed.

The statement underscored that alongside severe torture, the occupation prison authorities have been cracking down on detained Palestinians by sending them to isolation and preventing them from any form of communication with the outside world, including their family members and lawyers.

It is worth noting that the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and ex-Detainees Affairs recently confirmed that as a result of the most recent arrest campaigns since October 7, the number of newly detained Palestinians exceeded 4,605., adding that among them are 147 women, including those arrested from the occupied 1948 territories and the Gaza Strip.
