Bismillah, Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, the creator of all creations, who has no beginning and no ending, and whom exists without a place, we ask Allah to ask Allah to raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, and to protect his nation from that which he fears for it, Thereafter:
Those who read the book of “Hizbul-Ikhwan, Sayid Qutub” or the so-called “Muslim brotherhood” and others sects claim a fatwa verdict that “working for the local government or even dealing with them is kufur blasphemy!” but this is not true because a Muslim would not become a kafir for committing a sin. And that claim renders most of our Ummah today as Kuffar!!
For a person to merely vote for the president is not kufur nor sinful. And dealing with the government is not kufur either. It’s only kufur when someone claims that the local government is better then the Quran Sharia law.
Sayid Qutub in his book called “Fi Dhilal al-Qur’an” he claims says “The whole Ummah have blasphemed in its entirety, even the mu’dhins (those who call to the prayers) are not considered Muslims any more” he claimed this because they accept the local governing and they do not rebell on their rulers, and so he belied the saying our Prophet peace be upon him:
لا يجمع الله أمتي على ضلالة
which means “Allah protected my nation from following a misguidance unanimously”.
As for the saying of Allah the Ayah: قوله تعالى (و من لم يحكم بما أنزل الله فأولئك هم الكافرون)
Imam Ibn ^Abbas said when interpreting this Ayah: “it is not the kufur that your minds deludes to, rather it’s kufur less then the kufur” which means it’s an enormous sin.
So It’s haram, it’s a sin (by Ijma^) to govern a non Islamic Sharia law, that is not in the way that Allah ordered but it’s not considered blasphemy to merely deal with the local law! Unlike what Hizbul-Ikhwan of Sayid Qutub claims and unlike what wahhabis so-called salafis claim. Ibn ^abbas’s saying is clear in considering such rulings as sinful and not kufur, and he is more deserving then those factions who claim to have the knowledge but rule based on their opinions by taking verses from al-Qur’an out of context.
We ask Allah to enable us to follow the Qur’an completely, and to enable us to stay steadfast on the Sunnah of our Prophet and the way of his companions, ameen, and Allah knows best.
Allah knows best.
