Israeli warnings about the outbreak of a full-scale war with Hezbollah continue, in light of recent attacks carried out by the “Israeli army” in Lebanon, particularly the detonation of communication devices and the targeting of prominent Hezbollah leaders on Friday, following strikes on two buildings in the southern suburbs.
Israeli journalist Ron Ben-Yishai, writing for “Yedioth Ahronoth,” stated that these events are putting increased pressure on Hezbollah and Iran, making their need to respond with “unusual” force against “Israel” more likely, thus bringing the region closer to a full-scale war.
Ben-Yishai believes that while the “Israeli army” is ready for this war, the Americans are doing everything in their power to prevent it.
In this context, a high-ranking Israeli official said: “The one who can stop the escalation is Nasrallah if he declares his willingness to accept the American plan. If he doesn’t, we are ready to go all the way.”
Ben-Yishai quoted an Israeli official as saying that “the explosions of thousands of communication devices in Lebanon aim to inflict significant damage on Hezbollah’s capabilities in a future war with Israel and to restore deterrence.”
Senior Israeli officials indicated that their strategy now includes returning residents to the north, which was added this week as one of the war’s objectives. They added, “Hezbollah will pay the price for what it is doing,” clarifying that the goal is to shift the balance of power.
The political leadership in the occupying state is facing internal pressure due to delays in safely returning settlers to their homes in the north, which led to this issue being added to the war’s objectives just days ago.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah stressed that the only way to return the settlers in the north is to stop the war on Gaza.
According to Hebrew media, approximately 120,000 Israelis have been evacuated from the north and south since the beginning of the Gaza war, with unofficial statistics suggesting that the number exceeds 200,000.
