The prevailing belief from 1948 until October 7, 2023, was that “Israel” possessed a vast military arsenal for deterrence against its enemies and would only use military superiority to protect itself. However, the events of October 7 revealed that “Israel’s” immense stockpile of weapons was insufficient for a war on a 365 square kilometer land, facing Palestinian factions without an army, armed only with locally manufactured simple weapons that constitute a tiny fraction of Israel’s arsenal. Moreover, the United States and several European countries had to establish an airlift to supply “Israel” with weapons and ammunition, indicating that the arsenal accumulated over 76 years was no longer sufficient to face such factions in the Gaza Strip.
Despite this, “Israel” committed atrocities unprecedented in human history, surpassing others in terms of the scale, type, and size of crimes, as acknowledged by many politicians, scholars, and critics from Western allied countries, as well as by statistics and figures confirming this. Policies of depriving Gaza’s population of basic necessities like water, food, medicine, fuel, and communication, along with targeting civilians including children, women, elderly, and innocent people, in addition to causing massive casualties and injuries, constitute crimes of genocide in every sense of the word.
And of course, international law, as well as politicians, observers, and human rights organizations, affirm that the presence of the “enemy” in civilian-populated areas does not justify killing those civilians under any circumstances. In addition to these crimes, the demolition of homes, buildings, schools, hospitals, mosques, and churches, the destruction of infrastructure, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people from their homes, all fall within the framework of genocide.
Furthermore, explicit statements from several Israeli officials that these actions are part of the policy pursued by “Israel” in the war against Hamas and the resistance forces. The practices of soldiers on the ground confirm this approach, whether by killing innocent people on the field, arresting and torturing them, stealing people’s money, or celebrating the bombing of buildings, schools, and hospitals, among other inhuman practices.
The fire may burn everyone
What I wanted to achieve from this introduction, which is now known to everyone and followed by the public day by day on social media platforms with audio and video, is that “Israel” is a rogue state and poses a danger to humanity in the present and in the future. The crimes are now being committed against the Palestinians who have been abandoned by the world, including their brothers, and left alone as victims of this unprecedented crime. In addition to what is happening in Gaza, it will have profound implications in the region and the world, and the international community that is indifferent, complicit, and watching the suffering of the people in Gaza will pay a heavy price, based on historical logic and the universal laws of human behaviour.
However, what humans should be aware of is the future danger of “Israel” to humanity. What we witnessed in Gaza may be repeated against any other state or people who may enter into conflict with it. Israeli leaders are threatening Hezbollah, saying that Beirut could be like Gaza, a clear indication that “Israel” may repeat crimes against humanity and total destruction against any state that stands in its way.
Some may say that Israel’s enemies are known, namely Iran and the resistance axis affiliated with it. But historical logic also says that the strong do not remain strong forever, and a friend may turn into an enemy one day. Iraq was an ally of most Arab countries, and in a few months, it turned into an enemy, most Arab countries sent forces from their armies to fight Iraq under the American flag and Western coalition.
When the conflict arises, and differences appear between any Arab or non-Arab state and “Israel,” the savagery that occurred in Gaza will be repeated against other peoples if it is not addressed today, not tomorrow.
The slogans heard and seen by Israeli politicians, as well as by many journalists and intellectuals, and by many segments of the population who radicalized to the utmost extent possible during this war, warn of a grim future for the world if this state continues its policies charged with those slogans and ideas. Ignoring the ideological reality underlying the occupation state will undoubtedly lead to disasters in the future, and those countries will burn with their fire first and pay a heavy price for their complicity and silence. The crimes are against humanity, not against specific people, and the fire spreads and affects everyone if not extinguished in time.
It is important to note that Israeli leaders who promote the idea that hostility to Israel is anti-Semitism are engaging in a process of extortion against the world to support them, which is the ultimate moral decline. When has opposed the policy of a particular state become hostile to religion or race? The problem is exacerbated when some listen to such claims.
The problem is not discussing these claims. If race or religion calls for the extermination of other peoples, then action must be taken against it, and this requires a reconsideration of the slogans of anti-Semitism and how they are used to protect their owners from accountability for the crimes they commit against innocent people.
Those who should be disarmed, and whose political and military structures should be dismantled, are those who pose a threat to humanity, those who kill children, women, and the elderly, those who demolish schools, hospitals, and mosques, and those who target civilians. Those who commit such acts in full view of the world and its hearing will repeat these crimes time and time. But next time, it will not be against the Palestinian people, but it will affect today’s friends before yesterday’s enemies.
