This question has become the most prevalent a few days before the month of Ramadan, as Muslims around the world prepare to start their fast in an atmosphere clouded by news of epidemics and the spread of viruses, and at a time when governments are working in a continuous race to distribute the Corona vaccine.
The last month of Ramadan has passed and we are in a complete epidemic, and people have dealt with the epidemic situation with utmost caution, whether related to the precautions and preventive methods called for by the competent authorities, or what is related to gatherings of all kinds.
But what happened to the general situation in the second year of Corona is the issue of vaccination in Ramadan, and whether the vaccine that countries of the world distribute to their citizens to limit the spread of the Corona virus has an impact on fasting, as the vaccination process continues in most Arab and Islamic countries with a variation in the frequency of vaccination from one country to another. How will these countries deal with the vaccination operations of citizens against the Corona virus during the daytime fasting during the month of Ramadan, which we are a few days away from?
Concerning the issue of vaccination in Ramadan, the Ministries of “Awqaf and Islamic Affairs” published a Fatwa related to the ruling on taking the Covid-19 vaccine during the day in Ramadan, where it was made clear that, after examining what is related to the topic, the committee found that the Corona vaccine is taken intramuscularly and does not reach the stomach through a usual way and is not nutritious. It is taken from an open port in the body, so it does not invalidate the fast.
Based on this, if the fasting person needs to take it during the day in Ramadan, then there is no blame on him for that.
Al-Azhar issued a Fatwa on the “Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa” that the Corona vaccine does not invalidate the fast during the day in the month of Ramadan. He added that the Corona vaccine in the vaccination phase enters the body of a Muslim through injection, not through the mouth, and that all Corona vaccines produced by international companies such as Pfizer, Sputnik V, Modern, and others work by injection to stimulate the immune system and prepare it to deal with the Corona virus inside the human body.
